Middle-aged yet immature, stocky, ex-rugby playing, father of 3. Managing Director of Gallowglass Ltd – frequent Event Supplier of the Year.

Since Howard kicked off these walks I am very proud to say that I have completed all three – The Ridgeway, Hadrians Wall and the South Downs Way. Despite them all being bloody long walks, they have been made considerably shorter by the fantastic teams that we have walked with and been supported by.

My biggest regret is that I cannot remember all of the jokes, the solutions to world problems, the anecdotes and the ridiculous tittle-tattle that I have enjoyed along the way. Because of this, I am having to come back for a fourth time in the hope that my Alzheimer’s riddled brain will retain some of the knowledge and gems that everyone shares with me.

In three years, we have raised in excess of £180,000 for the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund and that is something else that I am incredibly proud of.

It makes the training, the discomfort and the pain (and the beers) all worthwhile.

I can’t wait to get stuck into The Dales Way this year. If the weather holds, it will be beautiful. Either way, it will be hard!
