Tim Stokes
Went through Sandhurst with Howard in ’85 & then joined the same
Artillery Regiment in ’86. Got up to mischief in Germany for 3 years
& enjoyed each other’s strange & slightly warped sense of humour.
Had a bit of a knee injury getting out of a helicopter in ’89 & so
followed 4 years of grief with copious ops & physio.
Howard travelled with me and met my surgeon in Belgium on one
occasion and made fun of him…in a Howard way! Amazingly 17 years
on & I’m again under the same surgeon debating about having the
other knee opened up as that’s now knackered! Meanwhile, thought
I’d set myself this ludicrous challenge to walk Hadrian’s Wall so that
the next journey to Belgium would be worthwhile…..I know Howard
would have understood this “pants” logic!
Senior management is Nick (The Doris) who knew Howard for almost as long as me. We have two chicks Molly (9) and Georgia (7) who intend to pop up north with the dog Harvey to do their bit each day.
Have a very demanding job running a specialist bolting company (TCB) so unfortunately could only manage a 1 day visit to the Ridgeway last year. However, it was great to catch-up with Howard & Jane and the gang. Onwards & upwards as H used to say.
